OUR APPROACH

One of the main avenues through which we fulfill our mandate is the Resurgence Gathering. Our gatherings consist of times of extended worship, preaching of the Word, and time given for the Holy Spirit to minister. We also believe in having a community building component to the evening. Our gatherings focus on equipping and stirring the Church. Resurgence is for people who want more of God and want to see lives transformed. As an expression of unity, Resurgence gathers together people of all ages and denominations. We have held gatherings in Baptist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Salvation Army, and non-denominational churches.

In Edmonton, we hold a Resurgence Gathering each month. We also have gone to other towns and cities and feel called to see gatherings happen in other cities across Canada and beyond!

Come+Unity is a 5 Week experiment in community, where we gather together in one space, separated into designated tables with hosts at each table. The format includes teaching, personal examples, testimonies, discussion, prayer for each other, and food. Topics include: Identity, Living a Spirit-Filled life everyday, Leadership and more. Since the inception of Resurgence, the call of God has always been to make it more than just a night, an event, a service or a conference. The call of God has been to invite people into a lifestyle that expects revival and actively engages in building the Kingdom of God in our circles of influence. Come+Unity is a step in establishing the meaningful connections with God and with each other that we need to sustain this lifestyle of “Resurgence”.

The Resurgence Advance is an annual weekend retreat that takes place in late Fall each year. It is a time for the Resurgence Community to gather various churches to “Advance” in our relationship with God. This intimate time with God and building of community has been a highlight.

From the beginning of Resurgence, prayer has come up again and again as a key component – it must be and is our foundation. Prayer cannot be something we “sub-contract” others to do, but a continuous conversation with God modelled in our community from our leadership through each one who joins us. We make it a priority. We have various prayer teams and networks established. There are pre-gathering prayer times, bi-weekly prayer meetings, and bi-monthly prayer summits.

Each year Resurgence, in partnership with House of Prayer Edmonton (HoPE), hosts 50 hours of continual, corporate worship of Jesus Christ. This time is led by worship leaders from all across our city and region. Churches of all denominations come together in unity to worship and exalt Jesus.

Resurgence is not only called to equip and unify the Church, but also to reach the lost. We fulfill this part of our mandate in three ways currently:

• Everyday – We believe that it is key that every person who is part of the Resurgence community lives a Spirit-Filled life not just at a service or gathering but every day! We want to equip our community to actually live out the good news in boardrooms, classrooms, and homes.
• Outreach – There is something amazing that happens when we do ministry in teams. We love taking teams to places locally, nationally, and internationally.
• Itinerant Ministry – Travis Holownia and our Resurgence Lead Team are traveling to various places to teach, lead worship, provide leadership training, and minister in various outreach events.
