Volunteer for the Edmonton Burn 2015…
The EDMONTON BURN 2015 is 50 hours of continual, corporate worship of Jesus Christ. The EDMONTON BURN is a Christian, cross-denominational event, made up of a diverse expression of believers from throughout the capital region and is being led by various local worship and prayer teams. It is being co-hosted by House of Prayer Edmonton (HoPE) and Resurgence Initiatives. More information on the Burn is here.
Over the 50 hours, we need many volunteers to make it possible. Would you consider volunteering and helping?
The process is quite simple. You will read the opportunities below, click the link and give us some information about yourself. We then will contact you and give you a chance to pick shifts and roles at various times during the 50 hours!

> Site Coordinator
Promotes a positive volunteer culture at The Burn by encouraging a warm atmosphere and providing support to our volunteers. The Site Coordinator is the point of contact for all emergencies, as well as any questions our volunteers might have during their shift.
This role might be right for you if:
- You’re passionate about people
- You are calm under pressure
- You have experience leading a team
- You have the ability to multitask and prioritize on the fly
- You’re comfortable having uncomfortable conversations with people if needed
> Lobby Host
A Lobby Host welcomes and connects people to The Burn, Resurgence, and House of Prayer Edmonton. Lobby Hosts should be able to answer basic questions regarding The Burn, Resurgence, and House of Prayer Edmonton and their upcoming events.
This role might be right for you if:
- People describe you as warm and welcoming
- You love meeting new people
- You have a heart to see people connect with what God is doing through The Burn, Resurgence, and House of Prayer Edmonton
> Security
Security volunteers help maintain a distraction free worship and prayer experience at The Burn. They ensure the environment is safe for all guests and ensure the condition and order of the building and parking lot are protected to honour our host church.
This role might be right for you if:
- You can approach difficult situations with an understanding heart
- Your are calm under pressure and in conflict
- You are comfortable having uncomfortable conversations with people
- People describe you as a night owl (or you can be one if needed)
> Hospitality Lead
Hospitality serves our worship and volunteer teams by taking care of food and beverages, as well as serves guests by doing light custodial duties as needed. Leaders in this area will take care of other volunteers by organizing and overseeing the preparation of the meals and snacks for them. Hospitality leads will also have the opportunity to work with the Burn planning team in advance regarding food planning.
This role might be right for you if:
- You’re well organized and enjoy working with assistants
- People describe the food you make as “delicious”
- You can prioritize tasks with ease
- You have some basic knowledge of food safety protocols
- You would like to connect more with Resurgence and House of Prayer leaders
> Hospitality Assistant
Hospitality serves our worship and volunteer teams by taking care of food and beverages, as well as serves guests by doing light custodial duties as needed. Assistants in this area will carry out assigned tasks behind the scenes to take care of volunteers and guests.
This role might be right for you if:
- Serving your community in practical ways brings you to life
- Preparing food gives you joy
- You work well taking care of the details
- You are both people and task oriented
> Media
The media volunteer helps to provide an engaging worship environment. By managing the lyrics and slides displayed on the screen, the media volunteer allows guests to feel connected to the worship and minimizes distractions.
This role might be right for you if:
- You love serving your community in practical ways
- You may not be the most techie person around but you’re comfortable on a computer
- People describe you as focused
- Worship is one of your favourite things
