14 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Resurgence Community

Matthew 7:7  “Ask, and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Mark 11:24  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

John 14:13-14 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it

Purpose: To be intentional in seeking God and positioning ourselves to receive more of His presence.  This is our second call to the community of Resurgence to pray and fast. We desire a community that this is not just an event but a lifestyle.  However, we do realize it is a muscle that needs developing.  By doing this together, our prayer is that it would build our prayer muscles and desire that would extend way beyond these 14 days.  This is just a launching pad for our community into a life of prayer and fasting!

Who: All who want to partake.  We believe it is essential that our community is one that regularly prays and fasts.

What: A 14 Day call to Prayer & Fasting.

In Second Samuel 24 King David wants to honor God by giving him a sacrifice after sparing the people from a terrible plague. When someone (Araunah) offers to give King David the bulls and materials for the sacrifice for free he says “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

Get the sense of what you want to give up (sacrifice) to get closer to God. This can be food, entertainment, media, time, etc. Choose something that you can commit to and set it in your heart to be faithful to that. Ask God for grace on what you can give to him trusting that He will see you through and reward you for your hunger for his presence.

When: September 8-21, 2014

“If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!” – Matthew 7:11 (amplified)

God is always has more in store for us but will we believe him, and forsake all else to receive it? Jesus openly declares that the Father will reward fasting. This can happen in different ways:

Externally – God’s power can touch your circumstances.
Internally – God’s power touches our hearts as we encounter him.
Eternally – God’s power touches our lives in many ways, some of which affect other people, destinies and the heavenly realms with eternal implications!

The purpose of this fast is to grow closer to God and to invite Him more into our lives. By fasting we position ourselves to receive more from Him and to more easily cooperate with His spirit. It is important that we are intentional in setting up time daily for prayer and reading with him to receive what he wants to give.

Below are a list of daily topics to guide you as you pray during the fast:

DAY 1: September 8th 2014 – To know God – Deepen relationship: Not just know about Him, but to know Him.
DAY 2: September 9th 2014 – Purity – A pure heart – Coming clean and confessing any lingering sin. Clean hearts.
DAY 3: September 10th 2014 – Revelation – Gain wisdom of God, the Word of God would come alive and be real.
DAY 4: September 11th 2014 – Resurgence – Prayer for the entire ministry, community, leadership and what God is doing in this season through Resurgence.
DAY 5: September 12th 2014 – Family – On behalf of those in the family (sickness, hurt, don’t know god)
DAY 6: September 13th 2014 – Love of God – That His Grace and unconditional love would not just be knowledge but we would experience and live it out.
DAY 7: September 14th 2014 – Relationships – Deepening, forgiveness, boldness, encouragement 
DAY 8: September 15th  2014 – Workplace – Openness, opportunities, salvation, healings to be an everyday lifestyle.
DAY 9: September 16th 2014 – Power – Like in the Book of Acts. The Holy Spirit working through us everyday!
DAY 10: September 17th 2014 – Direction – On what to do in season, fulfilment of God’s destiny in your life.
DAY 11: September 18th 2014 – Churches – We love the Church pray for Sustained growth, depth and commitment. Pray for the pastors and leaders.
DAY 12: September 19th 2014 – World Crisis – Breaking the dark principalities in our World (persecution of Christians, abortion, false religions, poverty, sex trafficking, justice)
DAY 13: September 20th 2014 – Open Heaven – Angels to be released, blessings to be granted, visions of God, divine strategy. Breakthrough!
DAY 14: September 21st 2014 – City/Province/Canada – Move of God in every level of infrastructure in our nation. Revival in Canada!!

We are gathering on September 11th, Day 4, to pray for the ministry of Resurgence. Join us from 7-9pm at Terwillegar Community Church as we lift up the community, leadership, gatherings, and everything God has called the ministry of Resurgence to do in this season. We feel it is important to have a corporate prayer time together. We ask you to join us!

What do you fast? Some may fast food, social media, tv or whatever you feel the Lord asking you to put aside so you can get closer to him. We live in a World with lots of noise and distractions.  We are not mandating you fast certain things, it is whatever you feel the Lord asking you to fast.  We are just desiring that our community “get closer” to Him in everyday. Prayer and Fasting is a key to doing so.
